The country’s latest pride, Charice Pempengco, has come a long way from her humble beginnings as an amateur singing contestant. Now she has the distinction of being the first Asian artist to have a Top 10 album in the US Billboard chart and being named the Most Talented Girl in the World by no less than Oprah Winfrey. She recently showcased her outstanding singing prowess, which is already known internationally, to her Pinoy fans during her concert series at Newport City, McKinley Hill and Eastwood City. The newly opened banquet facilities of Eastwood Richmonde Hotel played host to the Charice Live! press conference while the Richmonde Hotel Ortigas became her home during the Manila stop of her international concert tour.

The Richmonde Hotel was honored last September 22, 2008 by the Business Initiative Directions or B.I.D. with the World Quality Commitment (WQC) Award for the Hotel’s continuous quest for excellence towards customers through attention to products and services. Varela, Vice-Chairman of The Richmonde Hotel and Director of the Hotel’s owning company, Megaworld Corporation, during the 22nd International World Quality Commitment Convention held at the Concorde La Fayette Hotel in Paris, France.

Canadian pop-punk band Simple Plan has come a long way since the first time they visited the country. From opening the concert of fellow Canadian Avril Lavigne in 2005, they returned to Manila in 2008 as main act of the concert entitled “Simple Plan Rocks the Big Dome”. [More] Presented by Viva Concerts and Events, the show also featured revival rock band New Found Glory and acoustic heartthrob Jamie Scott.
On their second Philippine visit, Simple Plan made The Richmonde Hotel its home, together with fellow performers and first-time Manila visitors New Found Glory and Jamie Scott & the Town.

Internationally renowned singer, songwriter and actress Mandy Moore returned to Manila in 2008 for a one night only concert at Eastwood City and stayed at The Richmonde Hotel during her visit. [More] Her concert at Eastwood City was the last stop of her Pacific Tour to promote her latest album, Wild Hope, which features popular single “Extraordinary.” Once dubbed “America’s Pop Princess” during her teenage years, Moore disclosed during her press conference, held also at The Richmonde Hotel, that the songs in Wild Hope are presently the closest to her heart as she co-wrote these based on her personal experiences.

Young and talented U.S. born violinist Lucia Micarelli was in the country last 2008 for a concert at the Embassy Super Club and made The Richmonde Hotel her home during her stay. [More] Of Korean and Italian descent, Micarelli was classically trained at Julliard and the Manhattan School of Music and is now best known for her gift of beautifully blending classical pieces and familiar pop songs. Filipinos got to sample her music when she toured together with Josh Groban during his Closer Tour and performed a solo number. As a testament to her musical brilliance, Micarelli’s 2004 debut album entitled Music from a Farther Room was also produced by Groban.

Since 2003, The Richmonde Hotel (TRH) has supported Jesus Loves the Little Children Foundation, Inc. (JLLCFI) in its effort to rescue the thousands of orphaned, neglected, and abused street children in the city by adopting, nurturing and loving them and transforming them into productive citizens of society. Established in 1998, JLLCFI has made it its mission to provide the street children of today with a bright and hopeful tomorrow. [More] To help generate funds for the needs of the children under JLLCFI’s care, TRH has set up a donation box at the lobby for contributions from generous guests and has also received periodically donations in cash and in kind from its employees. And every Christmas season, fund-raising programs such as “Cupcakes for Charity” and “Chocolates for Charity” are launched wherein proceeds from the sale of the featured sweets and pastries at TRH’s Lobby Café are given to the foundation.
