World Quality Commitment Award Presented to Richmonde Hotel Ortigas

Richmonde Hotel Ortigas was honored on September 22, 2008 by the Business Initiative Directions or B.I.D. with the World Quality Commitment (WQC) Award for the Hotel’s continuous quest for excellence towards customers through attention to products and services.
The award was presented to Atty. Miguel B. Varela, Vice-Chairman of The Richmonde Hotel and Director of the Hotel’s owning company, Megaworld Corporation, during the 22nd International World Quality Commitment Convention held at the Concorde La Fayette Hotel in Paris, France.
The B.I.D. is a private organization established in 1975 dedicated to the promotion of quality culture and to the continuous improvement of companies from around the world. It is participated in by 173 countries worldwide which established the Total Quality Management Model that is the basis for the criteria in the selection of the candidates for the WQC Award. These criteria include customer satisfaction, benchmarking, strategic communication, leadership and continuous training. The International Committee for Selection of Candidates comprised of company leaders from more than 90 countries voted voluntarily and independently for the B.I.D. Quality Awardees during its annual meeting in Paris. The WQC award conferred by B.I.D. promotes the interests of clients, employees and suppliers all with a common goal of the achievement of quality in the business practices as well as respecting the environment and their surroundings.
The Richmonde Hotel’s Managing Director, Carmen C. Fernando, proudly affirms, “With this latest achievement of the Hotel, the entire management and staff are further inspired to continuously improve the quality of service provided to all the guests.” She also cites that the Hotel’s commitment to developing a Quality Culture to ensure its competitiveness in the ever growing and cut-throat industry is not only a matter of survival, but a sincere desire to satisfy all its customers and exceed their expectations.
Simple Plan and New Found Glory Rock Richmonde Hotel Ortigas
Canadian pop-punk band Simple Plan has come a long way since the first time they visited the country. From opening the concert of fellow Canadian Avril Lavigne in 2005, they returned to Manila in 2008 as main act of the concert entitled “Simple Plan Rocks the Big Dome”. On their second Philippine visit, Simple Plan made The Richmonde Hotel its home, together with fellow performers and first-time Manila visitors New Found Glory and Jamie Scott & the Town.
Richmonde Hotel Ortigas Welcomes International Artist Mandy Moore
Internationally renowned singer, songwriter and actress Mandy Moore returned to Manila in 2008 for a one night only concert at Eastwood City and stayed at The Richmonde Hotel during her visit. Once dubbed “America’s Pop Princess” during her teenage years, Moore disclosed during her press conference, held also at Richmonde Ortigas, that the songs in her album “Wild Hope” are presently the closest to her heart as she co-wrote these based on her personal experiences.
Lucia Micarelli Makes Richmonde Hotel Ortigas Her Home

Young and talented U.S. born violinist Lucia Micarelli was in the country last 2008 for a concert at the Embassy Super Club and made Richmonde Hotel Ortigas her home during her stay. Of Korean and Italian descent, Micarelli was classically trained at Julliard and the Manhattan School of Music and is now best known for her gift of beautifully blending classical pieces and familiar pop songs. Filipinos got to sample her music when she toured together with Josh Groban during his Closer Tour and performed a solo number. As a testament to her musical brilliance, Micarelli’s 2004 debut album entitled Music from a Farther Room was also produced by Groban.
Richmonde Hotel Ortigas Supports Jesus Loves the Little Children Foundation, Inc.

Since 2003, The Richmonde Hotel (TRH) has supported Jesus Loves the Little Children Foundation, Inc. (JLLCFI) in its effort to rescue the thousands of orphaned, neglected, and abused street children in the city by adopting, nurturing and loving them and transforming them into productive citizens of society. To help generate funds for the needs of the children under JLLCFI’s care, TRH has set up a donation box at the lobby for contributions from generous guests and has also received periodically donations in cash and in kind from its employees. And every Christmas season, fund-raising programs such as “Cupcakes for Charity” and “Chocolates for Charity” are launched wherein proceeds from the sale of the featured sweets and pastries at TRH’s Lobby Café are given to the foundation.
Likewise, every year-end, as a culminating activity, TRH treats the children under the care of JLLCFI to a party filled with fun games, gifts and a hearty meal.
